Special Activations & Demos
Aside from entertaining yourself with catching fish, making snow forts or snow creatures, we will have some engagement activities from our partners. Scouts will be serving up some hot drinks and running some outdoor games, the Ottawa Riverkeeper will be running some engaging activities, and returning from last year we have Danny and his team at Boreal River Rescue to help us all learn more about ice safety.
Live on ice demonstrations
11:30 to 12:00 pm
Boreal River Rescue runs Ice Safety and Rescue training courses across Canada. They teach a wide array of people who travel on ice, including outdoor enthusiasts, field personnel in the natural resource sector, and first responders.
They will focus on ice assessment, self-rescue, and partner rescue techniques. The session will include demonstrations and could include opportunities for a few participants to try self-rescue firsthand (wearing a flotation device!).
They will be available all day to answer your questions.
