Join our team!
This post is primarily to invite you to join our volunteer team—whether that’s helping on event day or supporting the event behind the scenes.
While you’re always welcome to email me or use the website contact form, the volunteer form below is the official way to get involved, so please start there.
A quick note about who’s behind this event:

My name is Dan Dubeau, and I started the Harbour Harvest in 2016 as a small passion project. The goal was simple: connect people to a uniquely Canadian winter activity and help break the ice— for communities to connect around a safe, welcoming ice fishing experience.
In the early years, the focus was supporting Syrian refugee families, working closely with settlement agencies to help newcomers experience something many Canadians take for granted. Over the past decade, nearly 1,000 newcomers have taken part in the event. Today, we work with a wide range of agencies supporting low-income and marginalized families who might otherwise never have the chance to try ice fishing—an activity that normally requires specialized gear, knowledge, and safety awareness.
This event only happens because of volunteers and community support. Some volunteers—like Don Sarazin—have been with us since day one. Each year, 40–50 dedicated volunteers, along with generous sponsors and partners, step up with their time, skills, funding, and prize donations to make the day possible.
I’ll be honest: this is a very time-consuming side project that doesn’t earn anything financially, and every year I tell my wife, “This will be the last one.” Yet somehow, I keep coming back. Maybe it’s because I have own enough gear for 350+ participants, or maybe it’s the moment when we’re able to donate thousands of dollars back into community programs—and hear the stories of people standing on “hard water”, or even better when hey pull out a fish for the very first time.
Thank you for being here and taking the time to read this. If you’re on this page, you’re already part of the Harbour Harvest story—or considering becoming part of it.
We’re always looking for people willing to step into leadership roles before the event, and I’d love to hear from you.
